Are you using the Microsoft Office-365 or Gmail email server in PestScan? If so, change your settings as soon as possible.

You may be using the Microsoft Office 365 or Gmail mail server for sending work orders and invoices from PestScan, for example. As of 1 October, Microsoft stopped basic authentication, where you only log in with a username and password. Gmail stopped this earlier. Read what to check if you currently send emails from PestScan.

How do I check my current email settings in PestScan?

Go to your PestScan application:

  1. Login with your user name and password
  2. Press the cogwheel at the top right
  3. Scroll all the way down. You now get to the Email settings. The moment Host shows an Office 365 or Gmail account, you mail from this server. The screenshot below shows an example of settings with a Gmail account. For Microsoft Office 365, the link is smtp.office365.com

What should I do if I am currently using a Microsoft Office 365 smtp server?

At the moment, if you are currently using Microsoft Office-365’s email server to send emails from PestScan, you have two options:

  • You want to use your own Microsoft Office 365 account. To do so, use Microsoft’s guide: Using app passwords with apps that don’t support two-step verification (microsoft.com)
  • You will be using the standard PestScan account. Please note that it is more professional to use your own account because emails from our default PestScan account are more likely to end up in your client’s spam folder. You can set this up by completing the following steps:
    1. Login with out username and password
    2. Go to the cogwheel at the top right
    3. Scroll all the way down. You now get to E-mail settings
    4. Click on Use default PestScan account

What should I do if I am currently using a Gmail smtp server?

At the moment, if you are currently using gmail’s email server to send emails from PestScan, you have two options:

  • You want to use your own gmail account. To do so, use the Gmail manual: Login with app passwords – Google account Help. In PestScan, enter your account name and password in the User name and password fields.
  • You will be using the standard PestScan account. Note that it is more professional to use your own account because emails from our default PestScan account are more likely to arrive in your client’s spam folder. You can set this up by completing the following steps:
    1. Login with out username and password
    2. Go to the cogwheel at the top right
    3. Scroll all the way down. You now get to E-mail settings
    4. Click on Use default PestScan account
